Release 2020_12_15
New Features
Topic | CKEditor Update |
---|---|
Area | all of MyLEARN |
Description |
The CKEditor 4, which is used in numerous MyLEARN applications, e.g. Syllabus, Learning Activities, Forums, Wiki, to create content, has been upgraded from version 4.13.0 to version 4.15.1. Apart from the new skin and icons with a colored background, the editor contains the autoLink plugin in all aplications in which it is implemented in its entirety. This means that URL text which is entered either manually or via copy&paste will be automatically converted into a weblink. (Screenshot). |
Benefit | The new autoLink plugin is especially practical to insert weblinks in content pages, in assignments or in wiki pages. From now on, you can copy&paste weblinks into the editor. They are converted into a link without the need to click additonal buttons. |

CSV Export for Grading Mode "Comment Only" |
---|---|
Area | |
Description |
Now, there is also the option to make a CSV Export for submissions of assignments with the grading mode „Comment Only“ (Screenshot). By clicking on the button „CSV Export“ below the table for „Submitted“ or „Graded“, a CSV file is created which contains the comment of the course teacher and the assessment date for each student ID. |
Benefit | The CSV export which is also available for all the other grading modes, is helpful for course teachers to collect and to archive the assessments and comments as well as to share them with other course teachers or to enable further processing. The CSV export is also suitable for a final check of the comments before the comments are released for the students as the comments can be displayed and read in total in the CSV or Excel file. |
Bug fixes
Topic | % Values instead of Points in the CSV Export „Points“ |
---|---|
Area | |
Description of Bug | CSV export of gradebook entries shows the total score for each student in %, even though export format „Points“ has been chosen. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. At CSV Export „Points“, now the total score in points is shown, as indicated by the column header „Score (Points)“. |
Topic | Score (Points) in CSV Export "Matrix" |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | When exporting the grade book entries to CSV in „Matrix“ type, the values in the "Points achieved" column are exported for each student and each performance. These values, however, do not represent the final result if a manual weighting has been chosen. Correctly, the values of the "Score (Points)" column should be exported. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. For students, who did not achieve points in the Gradebook, no more grade will be generated. The field “grade” in the scoring overview remains empty. The students are not shown any more in the At CSV export "Matrix", now the values of the column "Score (Points)" are exported, as is the case for the CSV export „Points“. The information texts have been adapted accordingly. |
Topic | Representation of scores that have not been achieved in Performance Status |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | In the performance status of the students, at „Total“ the value 0,00 is shown, if students did not achieve any grades at any partial score created in the gradebook (e.g. because they have not completed any of the required performance components). If a grading key is used, for these students grade 5 is displayed. In the variants of CSV exports, these values are exported, as well. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. If no assessment has been done, there is no number value for the students in question. The line remains empty (Screenshot). In the exported CSV files, the line remains empty, as well. |
Topic |
Gradebook Entry disappears after changing an Assignment |
---|---|
Area | Learning Activities / Gradebook |
Description of Bug | In the gradebook, a partial score is taken over from the learning activities. If changes are made in this assignment via the learning activities (e.g. a change of the title) the corresponding entry disappears from the gradebook. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. If an assignment from the learning activities is taken over for the gradebook, automatically, the checkmark „Create this task as a partial score in the gradebook“ is set (Screenshot). If afterwards changes in the assignment are made, the gradebook entry persists because of this checkmark. |
Topic |
Incorrect Values for Scores within a Category |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | In the gradebooks of the students incorrect values are shown in the columns „Score (Points)“ and „Weight (%)“ in scores within a category. However, the value of the total score in the category is correct, as well as the calculation of the total points. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. For scores within a category (2nd level) no more statements on the weight and on the score in points are shown – as in the overview table. The cells remain empty (Screenshot). |
Release 2020_12_01
New Features
Topic | Assignment: Several Files as Download |
---|---|
Area | Learning Activities |
Description |
If you create an assignment, you can now upload up to 5 files as download (Screenshot). Before it was only possible to upload one file. |
Benefit | Providing several files makes it possible for teachers to underpin the assignment to a greater extent, to give additional context information and to combine different file formats (e.g. Spreadsheets, PDF, …). |
Topic |
Assignment: Text area with formatting option and option to insert TeX formulas |
---|---|
Area | |
Description |
Upon providing an assignment of the type "text input" from now on students will see as a standard a text area with formatting options. The text area also offers the options to enter TeX formulas. (Screenshot). If course teachers want to offer exclusively a simple text area without formatting options (e.g. for exam situations), at defining the assignment, the option “simple text input – Yes” can be selected (Screenshot). |
Benefit | With the expanded text area, students can create their answers more clearly and in a structured way. With the insertion of TeX formulas, mathematical assignments can now be handled more easily in the form of open text fields. |
Bug fixes
Topic | Max. Number of Points must not be 0 |
---|---|
Area | |
Description of Bug | If you add a partial score manually, you can save the value “0” at “max. points”. However, if this partial score is imported via CSV, the result is an error message. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. Now, it is not possible any more to save the value 0 at “max. points”. Only values > 0 can be saved. |
Topic | No grade in case of no achievements |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | Students who did not score points for at least one partial score (e.g. because there is not a single achievement of them or because they did not take the exam), will get grade 5 if a grading key is provided. The grade 5 also appears in the gradebook export CSV file, which can be used for import into the BACH system. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. For students, who did not achieve points in the Gradebook, no more grade will be generated. The field “grade” in the scoring overview remains empty. The students are not shown any more in the CSV file exported from the Gradebook. |
Topic | Incorrect display of ? and ! in the comment field |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | The characters "!" and "?" are not displayed correctly, both when entering them manually and when transferring a text from an imported csv file. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. |
Topic |
Removing the checkmark “Transfer results to the gradebook” after deletion |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | When creating an assignment in the learning activities, the option “Transfer results to the gradebook” can be selected. By doing so, the entry is created and assessments are imported automatically. If this partial score is deleted from the Gradebook, the checkmark at the learning activity persists, even though no more transfer of data is taking place. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. If a partial score is deleted from the Gradebook, the originally placed checkmark at “Transfer results to the gradebook” in the settings of the learning activity is removed. |
Release 2020_11_10
New Features
Topic | Raw Data Export for selected Types of Assignments |
---|---|
Area | Learning Activities |
Description |
Administrators can form now on perform a raw data export of the student submissions via CSV for a single learning activity which had been defined as assignment (multiple choice question, single choice question, Cloze question, combined question, assignment with textbox). The CSV file lists all checked answer alternatives and entered text answers per student. The function can be used via the gear symbol (screenshot). The raw data export of a sample exam is only possible for members of the LEARN team. Administrators receive a note that they can send a request to the helpdesk, if such data are needed. |
Benefit | The new function helps course teachers, e.g. to read and to correct open text answers or answers to Cloze questions in a collected view or to be able to analyse the distribution of correct/false answers in a better way. |
Topic | Hide Ordinal Number of Gradebook Entries |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description |
It is now possible to select to hide the numbering of entries in the settings of the Gradebook. Screenshot |
Benefit | This new function makes it possible for course teachers to forgo the automatically attributed ordinal numbers when structuring the Gradebook. This makes sense if a numbering of the entries is not necessary or if there are numbers in the titles of the Gradebook entries, anyway. |
Bug Fixes
Topic | CSV Import with Line Break in the Comment Field |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | If there are line breaks in a CSV file in the column "Comment", only the first line is transferred when importing the CSV file into the Gradebook, the rest of the text is cut. . |
Status | This Bug has been fixed. Now, the whole text is imported as the line breaks are removed during the import process. |
Topic | Negative Number if Grading is Empty |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | If an assignment in the Learning Activities is graded with (...) (meaning an empty grading), this grading is shown in the Gradebook of the student as negative number (- max. amount of points). |
Status | This Bug has been fixed. A grading with (...) is from now on not displayed as a negative number in the Gradebook any more. It is now displayed as empty value (no value in the corresponding field). |
Topic | Grading of a Learning Activity after the Category had been deleted |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | If a category in the Gradebook is deleted, in which there is an entry with a graded Learning Activity, the grading is not shown any more upon transferring the Learning Activity again to another category. This happened, even though the assignment in question is shown in the Learning activities as "Graded". |
Status | This Bug has been fixed. |
Topic | Specification of the Weighting |
---|---|
Area | Gradebook |
Description of Bug | In the detailed view of a category the weighting is specified with up to 17 decimal places. |
Status | This bug has been fixed. Like all other values, this weighting is now specified with a maximum of 2 decimal places. |
