Fast Feedback
With the "Fast Feedback" application, you can obtain feedback directly in the lecture hall online, using the students' mobile devices or in remote or hybrid mode. You have the option of choosing between ad hoc feedback, Wordcloud queries, feedback over time or short questionnaires. In addition different settings as to the attitudes of the group of participants as well as the addressees who can view the results are possible. In no case can the answers be traced back to the answers of individual participants. You can find ideas for using Fast Feedback in the WU Teaching and Learning Academy.
How do I start Fast Feedback?
To start Fast Feedback, follow these steps:
- Click on MyLEARN in the portlet "memberships" on the respective course.
- Click on the portlet "Fast Feedback" in your course. The "Fast Feedback" application opens in a new window.
- Click on "Create Feedback".
You now have the possibility to create an ad hoc feedback, a wordcloud, a feedback over time or a short questionnaire.
How do I create ad hoc feedback?
With ad hoc feedback, you ask students a closed-ended question in order to obtain feedback and then discuss it. You can choose between a single-choice, multiple-choice or a Likert question.
To create ad hoc feedback, do the following:
- Add a closed-ended question. You can choose from the following questions:
a. "Multiple choice question": A question with several answer options.
b. "Single choice question": A question with several answer options, only one of which can be ticked.
c. “Likert Question”: A question to indicate the level of agreement or disagreement. Here you can define a positive and a negative end point, but also the number of intermediate points. - Click "add" to add up to a maximum of eight answer options In the sample question catalogue you will find pre-defined questions.
- Select "Start immediately when published“ or uncheck the box to define a survey period. When starting the survey directly, the survey will be started immediately and will be available for one day, unless the survey is ended prematurely.
- Click "Skip start page" or "Show start page" and decide whether the participants of the Fast Feedback should be shown the question and answer options before they answer it or not.
- Decide whether the fast feedback should be distributed using a QR code or link, or whether it should be answered by a predefined group (e.g. a team in your course). You specify this using access authorization. If you select “public”, you allow anyone you give access to the link or QR code to participate in your fast feedback. Alternatively, you can synchronize the participants of your course under “private” and enable a selected group to participate. If the access authorization “private” is set, it is possible to send e-mails. The time of dispatch and email templates can be selected.
- In the access rights of the results you can choose from the following options:
a. "Hidden": Nobody can access the results.
b. "Only me": Only the person who created the survey can access the results.
c. "Teachers only": The creator of the survey and other teachers of the course in which the fast feedback was started can access the results.
d. "Teachers and learners": Only the students and the teachers of the course in which the fast feedback was started can access the results.
e. "Public": Anyone who uses the link or QR code has access to the results. - Save the survey to use it later, or select “Submit / Publish” to start the survey immediately. If you have selected “Submit / Publish”, a short URL and a QR code will appear, via which the participants will be directed to the answer options.
