The course deals with the topic of international management, with particular attention to financial and financing-related aspects of internationally active companies

- Introduction, goals, definitions
- Foreign direct investments
- Traditional financing in international environment
- Modern financing through innovative financing instruments
- Private Equity, Venture Capital
- Traditional methods of managing international investment and investment abroad
- Value-oriented methods for managing international foreign investment and investments

Learning outcomes

Students will...

- have a fundamental understanding of financing companies in an international environment
- learn to apply modern instruments of managing international foreign investment
- know how to design instruments and processes in modern international companies

Attendance requirements

Attendance in the first session is mandatory!

Generally, you need to attend all sessions. However, we will not meet in class at every unit indicated in the course catalogue as some of those sessions are blocked for group or individual work. More information will be given during the first session.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The combined didactic concept contains

- Lectures at the “Wirtschaftsuniversität”
- Synchronous distance learning sessions
- At least one coaching session for your topic
- Self-learning sessions
- Student presentations
- Discussions

During the semester, the students work in small groups on a presentation topic from the course to ensure involvement. The acquisition of knowledge is supported by at least one individual coaching session with the lecturer.

Assessment

Elements that are graded and must be done by the students
The following partial achievements are taken into account for the performance assessment:

Pre presentation incl literature & figures (10%)
Final presentation (20%)
Final exam (70%)

 

 

Grading

> 90% of the maximum achievable points "sehr gut" (1), grade 1 
> 80% of the maximum achievable points "gut" (2), grade 2
> 70% of the maximum achievable points "befriedigend" (3), grade 3
> 60% of the maximum achievable points  "genügend" (4), grade 4
up to 60% of the maximum achievable points "nicht genügend" (5), insufficient, grade 5
