Practical Applications of Quantum Computing for Business, Supply Chain Management, and Logistics 

Learning outcomes

After successfully passing this course, students will be able to:

· explain the fundamental principles of Quantum Computing (QC)

· understand to which class of problems QC can be applied to

· know common QC technologies, platforms and frameworks

· describe real-life use cases for QC

· how to set up a QC project in research and practice (project management, design science, action design research, case study research, modeling & simulation)

· Understand challenges and limitations of QC

Attendance requirements

Attendance in all sessions (full presence) is mandatory.

Teaching/learning method(s)

The course is based on theoretical lectures, guest lectures from industry experts, practical exercises and a capstone project/case study (either in groups or individually, based on students preferences). A problem-based learning approach is used for QC use cases. Dates and times for the guest lectures will be scheduled in agreement with the students during the first lessons.

Assessment
    • Case Study / Literature Overview of selected QC use cases (50%)
    • participation in lectures (25%)
    • quizzes on required readings (25%)

All individual parts need to be graded with a positive mark in order to pass the course

 

Grading scale:

Excellent (1): 90.0% - 100.0%

Good (2): 80.0% - <90.0%

Satisfactory (3): 70.0% - <80.0%

Sufficient (4): 60.0% - <70.0%

Fail (5): <60.0%
