Contents

In the thesis seminar course, the major issues are the critical evaluation and discussion of the Master's thesis in order to enhance its quality. Principles of scientific work and quality standards of the scientific community will be presented. Lectures will provide input concerning topics of relevance.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the seminar, students should be able to critically evaluate and discuss published results from the literature. Furthermore, they should have acquired the skills to write a Master's thesis of high quality and to effectively present their work.

Attendance requirements

According to the examination regulation full attendance is necessary. Absence in one unit is tolerated if a proper reason is given.

Assessment

Total of 100 points:

  • Proposal Presentation: 15 points
  • Progress Presentation: 20 points
  • Final Presentation (Thesis Defensio): 50 points
  • Peer Feedback (following the Progress Presentation and the Final Presentation): 11 points
  • Speaker Series: 4 points 

Grading scale:

  • Excellent (1): 90.0% - 100.0%
  • Good (2): 80.0% - <90.0%
  • Satisfactory (3): 70.0% - <80.0%
  • Sufficient (4): 60.0% - <70.0%
  • Fail (5): <60.0%

 

Information regarding Speaker Series summary: 
Any work handed in for grading can be submitted and graded as course work only once. Otherwise, it would be plagiarism. Therefore, if you want to earn extra points in a course you must submit original summaries.

Prerequisites for participation and waiting lists

The successful completion of the course "Advanced Research Methods & Project Management" (according to the curriculum) + "Seminar Course: Special Issues in SCM" (strongly recommended).
