This course explores the intersection of international business and the sports industry, with a particular focus on football. Students will examine how clubs, leagues, and organizations expand internationally, the role of data and analytics in player transfers, and the commercialization of sports through sponsorship, broadcasting, and merchandising. A key focus will be on digital business models, including Web3 applications and blockchain technology in fan engagement. The course will also address international business theories and how they apply to the sports sector, covering concepts such as the Uppsala Model, Network Theory, and the Eclectic Paradigm. Additionally, students will gain insights into financial strategies, regulatory challenges, and ethical considerations in the global football business.
