Contents

This course will focus on various subtopics of Entrepreneurship that are receiving interest in the academic community. This course tries to build a bridge between the academic literature on entrepreneurship and the real world application of its findings.

Key topics discussed will include:

  • The entrepreneur and his team
    • Is founding with friends really a good idea? What's the ideal composition of a startup team?
  • International Entrepreneurship
    • Should you go international right from the beginning?
  • Pitching
    • Is presentation more important than content? What's the secret to a successful pitch?
  • Funding
    • How early should you take on venture capital?
Learning outcomes

After completing this course students will gain more insights into the current state of research on entrepreneurship and how the results can be used to improve startups' performance and chances of survival.

Apart from that, completing this course will contribute to students’ ability to:

  • Efficiently work and communicate in a team
  • Improve their oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Read and interpret scientific articles
Attendance requirements

In order to successfully pass this course, your absence is limited to 20 % of our appointments.

Teaching/learning method(s)

Each session will feature presentations by the course instructor and student teams as well as discussions and Q&A. Active participation and preparation for the in-class discussions is extremely important.

Additionally, students will work on a term paper on a topic of their choice related to entrepreneurship.

Assessment

The final grade of the course will depend on:

  •     Individual participation (20%)
  •     Individual assignments  (20%)
  •     Group Project and Presentation (30%)
  •     Term paper (30%)

Excellent (1)    ≥ 87,5 %
Good (2)    ≥ 75,0 %
Satisfactory (3)    ≥ 62,5 %
Sufficient (4)    ≥ 50,0 %
Fail (5)    < 50,0 %
