The aim of this class is to help you deal with various aspects of organizational change more effectively – analyzing and understanding conditions that may require it, increasing awareness of multiple ways that organizations change, managing change, receiving and participating in it, and understanding your own approaches and responses to change. Organizations are changing so rapidly and in so many ways that it is crucial for managers to have this knowledge.
Thus, the course readings are aimed at augmenting awareness and knowledge of multiple issues associated with change. There will also be cases and class activities, like simulations, aimed at skill building and reflecting about change in students’ own organizational settings. Hopefully you will come away from class with more knowledge and more confidence in your own abilities with regard to diagnosing and implementing organizational change.
This class aims at equipping students with more knowledge and confidence in their own abilities with regard to diagnosing and implementing organizational change. Students will practice important rhetoric capacities and develop a viewpoint that is evidence-based on theoretical statements, defend it against an informed party who claims the opposite in order to convince an audience of non-experts in a simulated mock trial.
Students are allowed to miss one course day without penalty (exception: interactive sessions where the attandance of all students is required, e.g. for class simulations)
In this course we will use a variety of teaching modes: frontal teaching, flipped learning, simulations, reflections, case studies, and a mock trial.
